Partnership with Care England
At the National Dementia Care Accreditation Scheme (NaDCAS), we are committed to a single, powerful ambition: to raise the standard of dementia care across the UK through credible accreditation, collaborative learning, and sector-wide improvement. That’s why we are delighted to announce our formal partnership with Care England, the leading representative body for care providers in England.
This is more than a strategic collaboration. It represents a joint commitment to embedding evidence-based, person-centred practices into the heart of care services, ensuring that people living with dementia, and the teams who support them, are prioritised across every level of care delivery.
A Shared Vision for Excellence
Care England, under the leadership of Professor Martin Green OBE, has long been a driving force behind policy influence, quality improvement, and sector innovation. Professor Green’s support for this partnership is a powerful endorsement of NaDCAS and a reflection of the urgent need for structured, values-led approaches to dementia care in our sector.
Together, we share a belief that meaningful accreditation is not about chasing status or labels, it’s about transforming care environments. It’s about nurturing a culture where:
Staff feel confident, equipped, and proud of the care they deliver
Families feel reassured, involved, and respected
And most importantly, people living with dementia feel safe, seen, and supported to live well in care.
Why This Partnership Matters
NaDCAS and Care England recognise that the challenges facing dementia care today demand more than isolated efforts. We need collaborative leadership, grounded in practice, and driven by shared purpose.
Through this partnership, we aim to:
1. Elevate awareness of dementia-specific accreditation as a lever for meaningful change.
2. Champion best practices by sharing insights, knowledge, and outcomes.
3. Support providers in evidencing the quality of their dementia care through a credible, annually reviewed framework.
4. Contribute to sector-wide transformation, driven by research, values, and the lived experience of those receiving care.
This includes future contributions to joint conferences, thought leadership reports, expert roundtables, webinars, and quality improvement resources to support members of Care England and the wider care sector.
Sam Dondi-Smith, Senior Partner at NaDCAS, states:
“Partnering with Care England is a game-changer for NaDCAS. Together, we’re championing a national standard for dementia care - supporting providers with new CQC guidance to deliver truly outstanding support for people living with dementia.”
Building on Expertise, Together NaDCAS has been co-designed with leading dementia care specialists, care providers, and those with lived experience. Our accreditation framework is independently reviewed each year to ensure it reflects the latest research, evolving sector standards, and evidence-based best practice. Covering over 140 areas of care, it provides a robust and dynamic framework for excellence in dementia care.
By aligning with Care England, we can ensure that our work continues to serve the evolving needs of the sector. More importantly, we can make sure that excellence in dementia care is recognised, celebrated, and sustained, not just for inspection purposes, but because it’s what people deserve.
What’s Next?
In the months ahead, NaDCAS and Care England will collaborate on a range of initiatives designed to support providers in taking their dementia care to the next level. Whether it’s through joint publications, practical tools, or strategic insight, we want to help services across the UK demonstrate their commitment to safe, dignified, and person-centred care.
