NaDCAS Homecare Accreditation

Supporting Exceptional Dementia Care, Wherever Home Is

The decision to receive care at home can impact a person living with dementia in many different ways. Familiarity and comfort can mean the difference between feeling anchored and feeling confused. At NaDCAS, everything we do is shaped by the belief that people living with dementia deserve care that helps them feel understood, valued, safe, and connected, wherever they choose to live.

The Framework for Exceptional Dementia Care supports many care providers to reflect on practice, strengthen culture, and improve the everyday experiences of people living with dementia. Now, we’re proud to be launching something specifically designed for homecare providers.

Homecare Accreditation Is Here

Homecare plays an important role in the lives of people living with dementia. For many, receiving care at home can mean staying connected to familiar routines, treasured memories, loved ones, and the comfort of their own environment. But delivering truly exceptional dementia care in the home comes with its own unique challenges.

NaDCAS Homecare Accreditation is built around a specialised version of our Framework for Exceptional Dementia Care, carefully adapted for domiciliary care services and community care providers to support the realities of people living in their own homes.

Developed alongside leading research universities, sector experts, frontline professionals, and people with lived experience, the framework brings together evidence-based best practice with practical, meaningful guidance that providers can use in day-to-day care. The framework is built on nine foundations designed to help teams build confidence, strengthen practice, and create more consistent, compassionate experiences for people living with dementia and their families.

How It Works

NaDCAS accreditation programmes are built as a supportive six-month journey designed to help providers strengthen and showcase exceptional dementia care in the home.

"NaDCAS accreditation is about partnership, not inspection. We work alongside providers over to help them reflect honestly on their practice, celebrate what they do well, and make real, lasting improvements. There's no test or judgement, just a genuine commitment to getting it right for people living with dementia." - Claire Reading, Director of Partnerships and Operations, NaDCAS

The programme begins with a reflective current practice call with a dedicated NaDCAS Case Manager. Providers then spend time embedding improvements taking part in an assessment visit around week 12. The final accreditation outcome is based on the full journey. Once accredited, providers enter a revalidation cycle, supporting continuous reflection and growth in practice. The main aim of this programme is to create meaningful, lasting improvements that positively impact the lives of people living with dementia every day.

Why This Matters

NaDCAS can support all care providers with a framework that works across residential and domiciliary care services. Everyone should have access to tools and resources to improve the lives of people living with dementia, which is why our framework is free to access for all care providers.
